Sharing is a good thing, which is why I don't want Oscar (my first) to be an only child. I do think it needs to be both modeled and practiced, because it's not a natural instinct.

This issue is pretty normal for toddlers. But still, we need to practice them and tell them that sharing is a good thing.

I have to tell ya that it always happens and never stops. My son, who is 19, will tell me that I gave his toy to his sister who is 4 years younger. So no matter what you do, good or bad, it will come back and haunt you.

At that age? It's really more about teaching them to take turns than it is about sharing. Even an actual timer can help. They can't grasp the concept of being kind and sharing quite yet.

(If I'm remembering right--my youngest will be 7 soon. Yippee for older kids! Not that I'm rubbing it in, but I'm sure enjoying it. On the other hand, I could use advice on getting 10 and 12 year-old sisters to STOP FIGHTING over every tiny thing. Driving me CRAZY.)
