Family costume ideas?

UPDATE: All these suggestions and dozens more are incorporated into the ultimate list of family costumes!

Now, I know I have the best and brightest readers out there. So since I’m stumped, I just know if I bring my problem to you, you’ll have the perfect solution.

We need a costume for Hallowe’en.

For the actual day, it’s fine if Hayden dresses up as, y’know, whatever. But we also have a Hallowe’en party that’s a tradition—and there are prizes. Of course, I don’t care about such things. I just want to rest secure in the knowledge that my children, husband and I have the most creative, best executed costumes in the known universe.

That sounds like a manageable assignment, don’t you think?

What do you suggest? Share your best family costume ideas here!

(A reminder: we have two adults, me and Ryan, and two kids, our two-year-old son, Hayden, and our two-month-old daughter, Rebecca.)

Peter Pan Theme – Captain Hook, Wendy, the Crocodile and Tinkerbell

Star Wars Theme – Annakin, Padme, Luke and Leiah

Cinderella Theme – Prince Charming, Cinderella, Two Mice

Batman Theme – Batman, Catwoman, Robin and Batgirl

My husband and I are being Alladin and Jasmine and my seven month old is being Abu. Since you have two kids, one of them could be Rajah. 🙂 You could all also dress as the same thing like be a pirate crew, a chain gang, etc.

I like Summer’s Cinderella idea. Cute! My son wants to be Woody, and my husband and I are trying to decide what characters from Toy Story to be. Either Jessi and the Prospector or Bullseye (not sure how to pull that one off) or Mr. and Mrs. Potato head.

I love Summer’s ideas! I doubt I could be as creative.

DH and I are still looking for our costumes. His boss is having a party but it’s sans 2 year old. SO, just a couple costume. I’m feeling unimaginative about it all.

I’ve known a few families to do Wizard of Oz with great success: Dorothy, Scarecrow, Lion, Tin Man. My brother’s fam is doing Peter Pan: Dad as Captain Hook, Mom as Wendy, 3 year old son as Peter Pan, and 9 mo. old as Tinkerbell.
Hope you’re having fun deciding!

The 5 basic food groups, sans one. Or maybe you could dress up a cat?

Jordan, you aren’t allowed to be me
sorry but no

you could go as the Addams family

Alice in wonderland (Ry-that mad hatter, Rebecca-the cat thingy, Haydie rabbit)

Big thing one and thing two and mini thing one and thing two

Harry pooter–Haydie Harry, Rebecca Her-hiney, You professor hooch, and ry professor snape or dumbledore or some male

sugar momma, sugar daddy, and sugar babies

We did superheros – capes from http://www.powercapes.com and then a separate baby onesie superhero outfit from Target. Everyone loved them. At least they told us they did! 🙂 We have another costume party to go to and need a new idea, I really like the Cinderella one, but dont’ see my husband wanting to do it! 🙂
